by Professor Koichi Kabayama, Director of the Printing Museum, Tokyo and Professor Emeritus, The University of Tokyo

The Printing Museum is the custodian and preserver of machinery and products that are precious historical assets of the printing industry. The spotlight is currently falling on the large number of various other industrial museums, which collect these types of assets from their own industries. Professor Kabayama's lecture will look at their roles and the issues they face.

The new technology of microchemistry chips is an innovative method for turning chemical analysis equipment and chemical plants into devices like semiconductor devices. Japan's technical level in this field is internationally high, and there are great expectations for the technology's development. This address will discuss the new technology, and explain its place in the various issues facing the future manufacturing industries of Japan - a country that seeks to be a world-leader in the field of science.
